The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday had a groundbreaking ceremony for the first ever underground rail line in the Philippines which is expected to be fully operational on 2025.
According to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Metro Manila Subway would be a fast and safe way to transport the public.
The 36 kilometer railway system would have 15 stations under Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Pateros as well as Pasay.
The train could run as fast as 80 kilometers per hour speed which can move people from Quezon City to NAIA Terminal within 30 minutes.
It would be connected to other rail systems like MRT-3, LRT-1, LRT-2, the current construction of MRT-7 and the Makati subway.
