NAVOTAS CITY – Navotas City has earned more than half a million pesos during its recently concluded fun run for its NavotaAs Scholarship Program.
The local government reported that the Takbo ni Juan para sa Iskolar ng Bayan earned P620,000 for its 608 scholars, up by 18.5 percent than P523,400 a year earlier.
The total number of scholars is comprised of 293 athletic scholars, 291 academic scholars, and 19 art scholars.
More than 3,100 participants joined this year’s annual 3- and 5-kilometer fun run.
(Every year, more and more people participate in our fun run for scholars. We are grateful to those who joined and contributed in achieving the goal of providing educational assistance to more Navotas City residents.)
(We believe that through education, one can improve his or her life situation. The city council always gives priority to the quality and holistic learning of our young people.)
This year, the Navotas City government received two awards for its education-focused initiatives. First is the Seal of Good Education Governance in September.
It also bagged the Galing Pook award for its ACcessible, Holistic and InclusiVe Education program.
The local government is currently offering scholarships to those who excel in academics, sports, at arts.
Beneficiaries receive allowance for tuition fee, books, and food and transportation. Athletic and art scholars also get financial assistance for their respective training and workshops.
