NAVOTAS CITY – The Navotas City government distributed birth certificates to some 120 residents who filed their birth registration belatedly.
The free late birth registration project is an initiative of Navotas City Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo at Councilor Ethel Joy Arriola-Mejia.
Residents normally pay P1,500 for late birth registration. The local government, however, shoulder the cost of processing late birth registration.
Fees, penalties and charges on late birth registration were waived under City Ordinance 2018-19 penned by Arriola-Mejia and signed by Geronimo.
In his speech, Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco encouraged beneficiaries to tell others about this initiative as some residents cannot afford to pay for birth registration fees because of their financial situation.
“May programa rin ang Navotas na free birth registration para sa mga batang Navoteño na isinilang sa Navotas City Hospital o sa lying-in center ng lungsod. Ang kailangan lang ay ipasa ang mga kailangang dokumento (Navotas also has a free birth registration program for Navoteño children born at the Navotas City Hospital or the city’s lying-in center. All you have to do is comply with the requirements), he said.
Residents can still avail the free late birth registration.
