THE province of Guimaras is pushing for the establishment of a one-stop-shop for businesses for faster processing of permits and licenses.

The move complies with Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act, which President Rodrigo Duterte signed on May 28, 2018.

RA 11032 seeks to make the process of establishing and operating a business in the Philippines easier and more efficient. One of its authors is Iloilo fourth district Rep. Ferjenel Biron.

The law would benefit the island province of Guimaras as it anticipates the expansion of foreign and local business establishments, he said.

Gumarin said he will meet local chief executives to work out the implementation of the Unified Licensing System.

The one-stop-shop will host representatives of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), among others.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City is also planning to put up a Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS) in the third floor of City Hall.

“We only set up seasonal One-Stop-Shop during the renewal of businesses from January 1 to 20. What we are planning is to make it year-round wherein there will be personnel from City Engineer’s Office which releases the building permits and certificate of occupancy, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Assessor’s Office, City Zoning, and BPLO in one area,” said Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Norman Tabud.

The establishment of the one-stop-shop would also invite more investors and encourage businesses to renew their permits, Tabud added.
