CEBU CITY, Philippines – As the fanfare associated with local elections erupted across the nation, the Osmena-led Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) started their campaign for the Cebuano mandate with solemn and simple activities including attending the Holy Mass at the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Guadalupe, Friday morning.
The BOPK campaign quickly shifted to high gear however, as candidates led by Mayor Tomas Osmena accompanied by his brother and lone Cebu senatorial bet Sergio Osmena III took the stage at the iconic Abellana Sports Center, Saturday.
“Cebu has always been a shining light in the history the nation. Especially now that the centers of political and economic influence are shifting towards the South, the Cebuano vote becomes even more critical in shaping the destiny of our beloved Pilipinas,” said Sergio Osmena III.
“The BOPK represents both a tradition of service and dynamic leadership needed by the Cebuanos to assert their influence on our nation. It is Cebu’s time to shine once more,” added re-electionist Mayor Tommy Osmena.
The BOPK slate is led by incumbent Mayor Tomas Osmeña who seeks to secure his post against Partido Barug standard bearer and current Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella. Osmeña is joined by running mate, Cebu City Councilor Mary Anne de los Santos, who is pitted against former Mayor Michael Rama for the vice mayor position.
