MAMBUSAO, Capiz – Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. led the blessing and turnover of a farm-to-market road project worth P26 million afternoon of Feb 20, 2019 in Brgy. Burias here.

The 5-kilometer concrete road was part of the P268-million loan acquired by the local government of Mambusao from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) last year, Labao said.

Labao said that payment for the loan amortisation will be taken from the town's 20 percent Development Fund.

Agkawayan resident Adeliada Verdadero said she is grateful for the project because of easier transportation of their products.

"It's a long cherished dream for the residents of Agkawayan to have a concrete road connecting from our sitio to Poblacion proper," Verdadero added.

Teacher Annie Villa said they need not walk for several hours from the poblacion to reach Agkawayan Integrated School(AIS) where she has been working for almost ten years.

Meanwhile, the Burias-Agkawayan road could benefit 800 households in the area in bringing their products to the market.

Present during the blessing of the project are officials from the Department of Interior and Local Government under provincial director John Ace Azarcon, Commission on Audit, and the DBP.

Also present are the municipal of Mambusao, barangay officials of Burias and nearby villages.
