PALACE SAYS JANUARY 16 A HOLIDAY IN NAVOTAS CITY
NAVOTAS CITY – Malacañang has declared January 16 as a special non-working holiday in Navotas City to celebrate the city’s 113th founding anniversary.
This is stipulated in Proclamation No. 648 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on January 11.
“Whereas, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Navotas will be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the order reads.
In line with its founding anniversary celebration, the local government will hold the 113th Navotas City Grand Parade on January 16.
Maja Salvador, Coleen Garcia, and EJ Falcon will join the grand parade this Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The following roads will be closed to motorists from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to give way for this event: C3, Northbay Boulevard, M. Naval, L. Santos, Gov. Pascual, P. Cadorniga, C4 and R10.
The country’s commercial fishing hub was established on December 20, 1827 following its separation from Malabon (Tambobong) but the city celebrates its foundation day every January 16.
It became a highly urbanized city on June 24, 2007 after a plebiscite was held.
