Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez has been named the “Most Outstanding Mayor for 2019” in Metro Manila during an event held recently, the Manila Standard reported.

Superbrands Marketing International Inc. commended Olivarez for his administration’s “Bagong Parañaque” program in education, poverty reduction, job creation, excellence in governance, and national competitiveness programs.

“Congratulations po sa ating lahat, ang parangal po na ito ay para sa buong lungsod ng Parañaque! Tuloy tuloy po ang ating serbisyo na tinatawag na, sa Diyos, sa tao, serbisyong totoo! Maraming maraming maraming salamat po,” Olivarez said in a Facebook post after receiving the award.

SMI, the world’s largest independent arbiter of branding with programs in over 90 countries, is the sole international award-giving body on marketing/branding in the Philippines.

The council is composed of luminaries from public relations, civic and institutional organizations being part of the international standard of brands and services category worldwide.

Since he assumed the post in 2013, the city saw the number of investors and businesses coming into the city surged to more than 20,000 which have resulted in the estimated annual gross sales of more than P3 billion.

The Department of Interior and Local Government has recognized the city as the most compliant local government in Metro Manila for passing four of seven local governance assessment areas for the year 2018.
