CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- The Pasig City team has emerged as the overall champion in the 7th Philippine Sports Commission - Philippine Sports Association for Differently Abled (PSC-Philspada) National Para Games 2019 held in this province.

The team bested 75 others, obtaining a total of 94 medals -- 39 gold medals, 32 silvers, and 23 bronzes -- after four days of competition on May 26-30.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan province came in second with 25 golds, 12 silvers, and 14 bronzes; and Davao City placed third with 20 golds, 24 silvers, and 13 bronzes.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado’s representative, Provincial Administrator Eugenio C. Payongayong, congratulated the delegates for their devotion and unquestionable determination and perseverance to stand above any challenge as they showcased their capabilities and overcame their disabilities.

"I say to the Lord God I am blessed because I did not have this. But you are more fortunate because God used you to encourage many people to see that it is normal,” Payongayong said as he read the governor’s message.

On the other hand, Juanito Mengarini, coach and captain ball of the wheelchair basketball team of Pasig City, encouraged and motivated other differently-abled persons to unleash their hidden talents and participate in such activities.

"Find out what is your ability. Do not hide it at home because now it is a huge social disability,” Mengarini said.

The PSC-Philspada National Para Games is an annual tournament for differently-abled athletes from various regions of the country. (PNA)
