PHP 50,000 FOR LOST LICENCE PLATE, UNJUST – ROTP
The Riders of the Philippines (ROTP) expressed their disappointment on Monday about the ‘Double Plaka Law.’
A member of ROTP appealed to the public and said, “Hindi po kami kriminal… safety po ang iniisip namin and lastly law enforcement po pagtibayin at hindi po pagsakal sa mga riders.”
“We are not criminals… We are thinking about safety and lastly intensify law enforcement and not suffocate the riders.”
According to Cristopher Cristobal, the Php 20,000 to 50,000 penalty for riders who would lose their license plate is unjust because it would make their families hungry.
Aside from the fine, Cristobal also mentioned about the safety of the riders.
“Pa’no na lang halimbawa, nagba-biyahe kami tumalsik ‘yong plaka tumama sa likuran siyempre sisisihin kami nung nasa likuran hindi pa naming inaasahan nakapatay yung plaka… na hindi naman naming sinasadya yung pangyayari”.
“For example, we are driving and the license plate propelled backward the riders will be blamed on those behind unexpectedly the plate caused someone to pass away… We do not intend to do that.”
He said that motorcycles do not even have any parts to attach the plate number in front and also questioned the plate’s durability.
