ILOILO CITY — An aircraft from Taipei, Taiwan carrying 121 passengers overshot the runway of the Kalibo International Airport in Aklan Wednesday night shortly upon landing, according to the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) here.
Eastern Air Transport with body number B-28027 was carrying 63 male and 58 female passengers, the OCD report added.
Due to the runway excursion at 6:02 p.m., the operation at the airport was temporarily stopped.
It resumed after more than an hour following the removal of the airplane at the runway.
“Most passengers are already bound for Boracay island and others were sent home,” according to the OCD media statement, adding that the passengers are all safe.
Meantime, investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. (PNA)
