The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday they were prepared to face investigation in case the Bayan Muna and other groups file a case regarding the incident where 14 suspected criminals were killed in Negros Oriental.
According to PNP chief Police General Oscar Albayalde, all operations were covered of 36 search warrants in different parts of Negros Oriental. He stressed the incident was not massacred.
"Itong mga operations na ito are all covered by search warrants. They have 36 search warrants in different parts of Negros Oriental. Hindi po ito nangyari sa iisang lugar. Hindi totoong ito ay massacre. Ito ay nangyari sa iba't-ibang lugar. Hindi ito sa iisang lugar na 14 na katao... (The operations are all covered by search warrants. They have 36 search warrants in different parts of Negros Oriental. It did not happen in just one place. It is not true that it is a massacre. It happened in various places. It did not happen in one place with 14 people…)," emphasized Albayalde.
The chief of national police pinpointed there were 12 individuals who were arrest and did not struggle while those 14 who were killed were the ones who attempted to fight back. Albayalde said if the authorities’ intention were to kill all the suspected criminals then the 12 who did not strife would have been killed as well. There was also a police officer who became wounded in the encounter.
Albayalde mentioned there were reports that some of the 14 suspected criminals have previous participation on allege ambush against the police. (CHAY ALDAY/LEAGUE ONLINE NEWS)
