POLICE URGED TO OBSERVE AUSTERITY IN CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – Chief Supt. Edward E. Carranza, director of Police Regional Office in Calabarzon (PRO4), is urging policemen in the Calabarzon region to observe austerity and celebrate a simple yet meaningful Christmas Season.
Carranza led the ceremonial lighting of Christmas lights at the headquarter grounds here Monday night following the yearly Filipino tradition of putting up Christmas decorations early during this time of the year.
“It gives us opportunity to celebrate more special events with our families, relatives and colleagues. I must say that this season is celebrated with our hearts full of hope and love,” Carranza said, commending the uniformed personnel for their hard work and commitment in performing their duties and responsibilities.
He praised the creative efforts to spruce up and beautify camps and police headquarters to lift the “spirit” of every personnel and everyone during the Yuletide season.
He advised the regional police force to conduct their simple Christmas party celebration even with just one unified “salu-salo” (party, gathering) at the regional headquarters by December.
He said that instead of spending for lavish celebrations, the savings would rather be pooled to provide more raffle prizes for a merrier and happier Christmas celebration.
Carranza, together with wife Carolyn and top command group officials, pressed the plunger for the synchronized Christmas lighting of the headquarters building and the Christmas booths, displays, and lanterns that bedecked the headquarters grounds.
A five-minute Christmas firework display also lit up the camp skyline as the police marching band drummed up the festive occasion with Christmas carols.
He described this year as a bit tough “but as long as we are working hand in hand we will be able to achieve our mission of course through the protection and guidance of our Almighty God”. He urged every law enforcer to maintain peace and order in every community this Christmas Season to make it really “merry and happy”.
He also encouraged every police personnel to find meaning with the lighting of Christmas lights and lanterns to enlighten their hearts to share and spread love, peace and positivity.
“Kagaya ng mga Christmas lights na nakikita natin, hinihiling ko na ang kapulisan ng Calabarzon ay magsilbing ilaw at gabay ng bawat mamamayan ng rehiyon na ito. Huwag nating hahayaan na sirain ng mga masasamang loob ang nalalapit na mahalagang okasyon na ito (Like the Christmas lights we see, let us have our Calabarzon police serve as light and guide to every constituent in the region. Don’t allow the reckless persons ruin the forthcoming special occasion),” he said. (PNA)
