DAVAO CITY, Nov. 5-The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 has deployed a total of 1,438 personnel to secure the up-coming National Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) Challenge to be held in the city on November 6-10.

Chief Insp. Jason Baria, spokesperson of PRO 11, told reporters on Monday the number of deployed personnel will be enough to secure the tournament site.

“For our counterpart in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) there is no exact figure since their task is to clear the hinterlands near the firing range in barangay Ma-a,” Baria said.

He said that the directive of PRO 11 director Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales is to secure the venue and for everybody, participants, tournament officials and spectators, to be safe during the competition.

“Our regional director also said that even there is an event like this in the region, we should not put our guard down in securing the safety of the general public,” he said.

A total of 60 people will participate in the event including generals who will take part in the so-called game of the generals on November 10.

No less than President Rodrigo Duterte will grace the opening day of the competition.

He said the challenge will showcase the capabilities of the SWAT team members coming from different parts of the country.

The competition will be in 12 stages, including marksmanship, close quarter battle, sniping challenge and physical agility.
