President Rodrigo Duterte finally ends the issue about peace talks between the government and Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP-NPA-NDF). Duterte announced this during his speech at the 122nd Anniversary of Philippine Army in Taguig City.
Duterte mentioned that the government is not open to discussing any topics or steps regarding this under his administration.
The Chief Executive believes that strengthening the relationship with Indigenous People (IP) and the community would be one of the ways to end insurgency within the country. He is also determined to intensify the land reform program so the people could have their own land.
"So every available vacant lot that they would come upon they tried to just go ahead and occupy it. And I have to give the warning that if you do that, I will order the soldiers and the police to shoot you and to shoot you dead," Duterte said.
Meanwhile, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Nur Misuari pushes for federalism, threatening the possibility of war if not implemented. Duterte remarks that the federal government has to be aligned with the Philippine constitution.
The President also promised to end drugs and rebellion within his term.
“God willing, we’d be able…maybe just not really completely eradicate it, but reduce the activities or the illegal trade and the fighting to the barest minimum,” he added. (CHAY ALDAY/LEAGUE ONLINE NEWS)
