QCPD PROBES KILLING OF VILLAGE EXEC RUNNING FOR HOUSE SEAT
MANILA -- The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the killing of a village chairwoman, who is seeking a congressional seat, and her driver before noon on Wednesday.
QCPD director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the victim as Crisell 'Beng' Beltran, Barangay Bagong Silangan chairwoman and her driver, Melchor Salita. They were shot by four unidentified men onboard two motorcycles.
The group, headed by QCPD Deputy District Director for Operations (DDDO), Senior Supt. Erson Udal Digal, is composed of 10 members and will facilitate the investigation and speedy resolution of the killing of Beltran.
Initial investigation showed that at around 11:30 a.m., Beltran was on board a white Ford Everest with plate number NDO 612 driven by Salita.
Upon reaching J.P. Rizal near Filinvest 2 in Barangay Bagong Silangan, the suspects approached and fired at their vehicle.
Beltran and Salita were rushed to the FEU Hospital and Malvar General Hospital, respectively, but they were both pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, four other occupants of the vehicle who were injured in the shooting incident and are yet to be identified were also brought to a hospital.
Esquivel said they will look into all angles to establish the motive behind the ambush.
“We also appeal to any one with related information to come forward and help in the police investigation,” he added. (PNA)
