ROCK LEGEND PEPE SMITH DIES AT 71
The great rock music icon has passed away at the age of 71.
His death has been informed by one of his daughters in Facebook.
“Thank you for everything papa bear ko. Thank you for being the best dad in the world,” Daisy Smith-Owen said.
She said that his father had trouble breathing.
Pepe Smith was born Joseph William Feliciano Smith. He suffered from a stroke in April 2015, then another one in July 2016. He had a third stroke in November 2017.
Pepe Smith is considered as one of the ‘fathers’ of Filipino rock and roll. Together with Mike Hanopol and Wally Gonzales, they made waves in the music scene as the Juan de la Cruz band. They released the singles which then became classics namely: “Himig Natin,” “Beep Beep,” and “No Touch”.
In the late 2000’s, Smith, even in old age, was a prolific performer, and even had released an album in 2005 entitled as “Idiosyncrasies.”
