DAGUPAN CITY — The Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) is deploying more than 400 personnel to ensure the security of partygoers for the Bangusan Street Party on April 30 here.
The Bangusan Street Party is the grand finale of the Dagupan City Bangus Festival 2019.
Major Rizalino Suarez, deputy chief-of-police of DCPS, disclosed that security deployment plans have already been arranged for the upcoming event, which is expected to be attended by more than a million individuals.
“We currently have 123 DCPS personnel, and they will be accompanied by force multipliers estimated to 200 recruits, a Special Weapons and Tactics Team from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, and 80 more police personnel from other municipalities,” said Suarez in an interview Wednesday.
Prior to the party, he said the augmentation force will also be deployed for the grand opening parade of the fiesta on April 12.
Command posts will be installed in the stretch of the De Venecia Road, which will be comprised of police personnel, Bureau of Fire Protection, medical teams, and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) personnel.
Day-offs and leave of absence of DCPS personnel have been cancelled in order to maximize the troops’ number.
“We have conducted a conference with them last week for the deployment of the troops, and they will undergo another orientation before the dispatch,” Suarez said.
Policemen will be positioned in strategic areas, and some of them will be clad in civilian clothing in order to prevent any untoward incident, especially theft, he added.
Meanwhile, the DCPS is discouraging attendees from bringing jewelry and large bags.
The police official also warned individuals not to bring deadly weapons, such as blades and knives, this election period. (PNA)
