MAKATI CITY – Makati Medical Center (MMC) is now offering high-quality specialized diagnostic and medical services to Makati City residents.
This, as Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Ospital of Makati (OsMak) and MMC at the city hall.
Under the MoA, Binay said OsMak may refer to MMC patients who are in need specialized diagnosis, treatment, and surgery for free. Specifically, OsMak may issue referral or endorsement letter to their patients to undergo thorough diagnostic exams at MMC. Once the results are out, patients must return to OsMak for diagnosis and treatment.
In addition to diagnostic tests, OsMak may also recommend MMC specialized cases for in-patient for treatment and surgery. These include neurosurgery cases and other forms of medical treatment for MMC.
The deal also covers emergency procedures although it still requires an endorsement from OsMak. The referral program will be implemented for a year and both hospitals will then decide whether or not to renew and expand their partnership.
Moreover, beneficiaries of Makati Health Plus (MHP) Program or Yellow Card will have the opportunity to avail better medical services at MMC, also for free.
The accord aims to bring innovative medical equipment and technologies, as well as best doctors closer to city residents.
Although the local government continues to develop and modernize medical equipment of OsMak such as CT scan or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Binay said the city council recognized the need to replace these items.
MMC is one of the leading providers in terms of medical research and training facilities in Asia. On the other hand, OsMak is an ISO-certified tertiary hospital in the Philippines and the first local hospital to be accredited as the Center of Excellence of the Philippine Heath Insurance Corp.
