TAGUIG GIFTS BIRTHDAY CASH TO ELDERLY PEOPLE
TAGUIG CITY – The Taguig City government has put a smile on the faces of elderly people in the city by giving them birthday cash gifts, the Manila Standard reported.
Local officials gave the birthday cash gifts to seniors residing in Barangays Bambang, Wawa, Hagonoy, San Miguel, Ususan and Tuktukan under the city government’s comprehensive program for elders.
Under City Ordinance 25, elderly people aged 60 to 69 will receive P3,000 each while aged 70 to 79 will get P4,000 each and aged 80 and above will get P5,000 each.
This applies to senior citizens who are registered voters and have been residing in the city for at least five years.
To claim the birthday cash gift, one has to present his or her Senior Citizen ID card that can be processed at the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) inside the city hall, and a signed photocopy of that ID.
Representatives assigned to claim the cash gift should provide an authorization letter, the senior citizen card of the beneficiary, and a photocopy of the representative’s valid ID.
Taguig City Mayor Laarni Cayetano said elders’ welfare has always been a priority of her administration. Aside from the birthday cash gifts, they are given a social pension of P1,500 that is disbursed quarterly.
City centenarians, meanwhile, receive a P100,000 cash award from the local government. They get the same amount for every year after their 100th birthday.
