TRADER NABBED FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS, FIREARM IN S. KUDARAT

COTABATO CITY – Policemen arrested early Thursday a buy-and-sell trader in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat for possession of PHP25,000 worth of illegal drugs and a home-made firearm.
Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Rasco, chief of Provincial Regional Office –12 (Soccsksargen), identified the arrested suspect as businessman Ricky Castillo Santillan, 49, of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Saliao in Esperanza town.
“The suspect did not resist arrest as the house was immediately surrounded by the arresting team,” Rasco said, adding the search warrant was issued by Judge Jose Edgar Sinangote of the 3rd Municipal Circuit Trial Court in Sultan Kudarat.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were four heat-sealed packets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP25,000; one used foil, and a loaded home-made 5.56-mm break-open pistol.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and R.A. 9516 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition). (PNA)
