TYPHOON WUTIP CLOSELY MOVING TO PAR
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) is monitoring Typhoon Wutip which is considered as a “very strong” typhoon.
Typhoon Wutip is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday and it will be named Betty.
According to PAG-ASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong, although the typhoon is “very strong” it is unlikely to intensify into super typhoon.
As of 11 in the morning, Typhoon Wutip has maintained its strength while slowly moving northwest. Its eye was located at 1,740 kilometers east of Southern Luzon with a maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and 225 kilometer per hour gust.
PAG-ASA said Bicol Region, Aurora and Quezon provinces may experience isolated light rains due to amihan or cool wind from the northeast while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
