BACOLOD CITY -- An estimated PHP3 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from a female drug personality in a police buy-bust inside the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan here on Wednesday night.

The Police Regional Office-6 identified the suspect as Mylane Khate Arroz, 38, who was arrested with Judith Solano, 23. They are now detained at the Police Station 7 here.

The operation around 6 p.m., initiated by personnel of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU), resulted in the recovery of a large plastic pouch containing suspected shabu weighing at least 200 grams placed inside a box.

Arroz, who sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman for PHP500, also yielded two more sachets of the prohibited substance along with PHP1,100 cash and a mobile phone.

Senior Insp. Mark Reclamado, team leader of RDEU in Negros Occidental, said in a radio interview that Arroz, who is into selling ukay-ukay (used clothes), had been previously arrested in a case related to maintaining a drug den.

Arroz, in a separate radio interview, denied involvement in the illegal drug trade, saying she was with her friend for their ukay-ukay business.

The PHP3-million drug haul on Wednesday was among the biggest confiscation of illegal drugs in Bacolod since last August.
