DAVAO CITY , Oct. 5- The 1 Cooperative Insurance System of the Philippines (1CISP) is urging young start-up entrepreneurs to join its first Coop Kicks in Davao City.
1CISP president Roy S. Miclat bared Coop Kicks is a competition where aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators will be given a chance to pitch their ideas and products on cooperative ventures.
Miclat said they chose the city as the pilot area because there many cooperatives here that have billion pesos resources and a lot of young aspiring entrepreneurs.
"We are now looking for the next Mark Zuckerberg for this pitching fest," he said.
He said any young groups coming from Mindanao can join the pitch fest at least 35 years old and below and it is not necessary if they are a member of a cooperative.
Miclat said he is encouraging all participants to propose ideas that will cover services or any products that could be useful to the community.
He said the winning group or individual will be given P300,000 incubation assistance for the start-up business being proposed.
"Or, if the business will be successful, we can infuse of maybe up to P500,000," he said.
Miclat also said the top 5 proposed business ideas will be also receiving P100,000 each.
He said the deadline of the start-up applications will be on October 26 which will be submitted to the Ateneo de Davao University Techno Hub.
From their, 40 teams will be selected and to undergo training on November 9 to 10 and the demo pitching is scheduled on November 31. Then, the grand pitching will be on December 1.
Miclat said after Davao City, they will bring this to other areas such as Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City and many more just to encourage young people to engage in cooperatives.
