ZAMBOANGA CITY–Two people were arrested and over PHP500,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in an anti-drug operation at the pier here, a police official said Thursday.

Police Capt. Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Roger Bakil and Jeanelyn Sinining, both of Jolo, Sulu.

Chang said the two were arrested around 7:30 a.m. Thursday by operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Police Station 6 at the port area, Barangay Zone 4, this city.

Bakil and Siining yielded some PHP557,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 14 plastic sachets, a bundle of boodle money topped with one genuine PHP1,000 marked money, and three bamboo containers of tidbits, police said.

The suspects have just arrived from Jolo, Sulu aboard a commercial ferry to deliver the suspected shabu to an undercover policeman based on prior transaction and agreement, Chang said.

She said the suspects were immediately arrested after they handed over the shabu concealed in three three bamboo containers of tidbits and received the marked money from the undercover policeman
